Laura Martin

Laura Martin joined SCPDA in 2002. Laura earned both her B.A. and her J.D. at the University of Washington. During law school, Laura worked as a legal intern at The Defender Association, Columbia Legal Services, and Team Child.

“I’ve spent most of my adult life working with indigent people.  Whether its teaching English in a blink and miss it town on a Volcano in Costa Rica, helping kids in the juvenile justice system secure education, or representing homeless people in a class action against the State of Washington, I am committed to advocating for the underdog. I became a public defender because I wanted to fight for the rights of individual clients on the ground level of the justice system and to help reveal their inner humanity.”
